 There are 2 flavours of DECT Cordless Telephones, Integrated and Non Integrated and both work with or without telephone systems.
Integrated DECT Cordless Telephones offer far greater coverage as the units are linked to strategically placed Base Stations [ almost like a mini mobile network ]. They also offer far more information to the individual user as details from the telephone system are automatically passed across. This would typically be the callers ID, name, telephone number and whom they are calling.
Non Integrated DECT are the sort of cordless telephone we have in our homes. These can be attached to a telephone system and thereby enjoy enhanced facilities such as hold, transfer, divert etc.
The only limitation of Non Integrated DECT cordless telephones is the operational distance. Typically Non Integrated DECT cordless telephones will work about 100m from the base station.
